1st Nature Day

Despite the weather, a large number of hardy souls turned out at the Market Garden for a introduction by Catriona Bass and the various groups went off to either plant trees (sponsored by the Market Garden) or do a bird survey at the Fish Ponds. Two hundred trees were planted - mainly hazels, crab apples, with a sprinkling of oaks. In torrential rain and wind 12 different species of birds were identified - quite a feat at the time of year and in the circumstances. It was a great start to the Nature Recovery Network's program of activities.
