Description

Walk with Local Bird Expert Allen Stevens and learn to identify our birds and their songs

Join Nature Recovery Network’s Basic Bird Identification walk with experienced local birder, Allen Stevens. The walk marks the start of bird surveying opportunities for NRN birding beginners.

The walks will take place at the change of each season with one of NRN's local birding experts. They will be at a relaxed pace with regular stops, so are suitable for all ages. The main aim is to help anyone who is interested in getting a bit more familiar with basic bird recognition, song/calls and the best places to spot them.

Walks will start at 09.00am at the Fishponds Car Park and finish by 11.00. Anyone who can only do an hour to finish at the half-way stop. Please bring binoculars if you have them.

We look forward to sharing some time with you in the Great Outdoors!

Allen has been a keen birder for as long as he can remember. He was fortunate to be able to continue this interest as a postgraduate student, completing a DPhil on the ‘Food Storing behaviour of Marsh Tits’, with fieldwork in Wytham Woods. As well as helping with the NRN bird surveys around Eynsham he also is a volunteer with the BTO, participating in the annual national breeding bird survey.
